He decided to leave Lurgan as a number of people, including his brother Joe, had been interned.
Having left his home to avoid internment he tells how he was subsequently picked up by Special Branch in Dublin and interned in the Curragh.
He describes the escape from the Curragh and how he eventually ended up in South Derry were he was caught with firearms and ended up in Crumlin Road Prison as a sentenced prisoner and his brother Joe was in an other wing as an internee.
He talks about how hard it was for his family particularly his parents trying to cope financially.
